About Dr. Vijay Kohli
Dr Kohli is an outstanding and accomplished cardiovascular surgeon with wide and varied clinical experience and expertise in different aspects of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. During his long career he has worked with renowned cardiac experts: Professor Randas Batista at Hospital Angelina Caron (Brazil) on reduction ventriculoplasty for heart failure; Professor Hertzer and Dr. Matthias Loebe at Berlin Heart Institute (Germany) on VADs (Ventricular Assist Devices) and cardiac transplantation; Professor George Wieselthaler at
Vienna General Hospital (Austria) and Professor Ettore Vitali at Niguarda Ca’ Granda Hospital (Italy) on the implantation and results of continuous flow VADs, heart transplantation and management of heart failure patients; At Nice University Hospital in France, Professor Vincent Dor talked about the results of his procedure for fixing ventricular aneurysms. Professor Antonio Calafiore from the University of Chieti in Italy talked about the basic idea behind the septal exclusion technique and how to fix the mitral valve when remodeling the ventricular anatomy. Dr Kohli was the first surgeon to perform coronary artery bypass in Jammu Medical College in 2001. He is also the first surgeon to have performed coronary artery bypass on a beating heart in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2002. He has conducted over 15,000 cardiac surgeries and has over 150 scientific publications at national & international level to his credit. He conducts regular OPDs in Patna and Uttarakhand. He also provides OPDs in Jammu for the underprivileged. He has received numerous awards for his contributions in the field of cardiovascular surgery
